2026 Age group update

As you may have heard by now, US Soccer has mandated that for the 2026/2027 season, and going forwards, playing age groups will be determined based on school age year, rather than birth year. In other words, age groups are based on August 1 - July 31 of the birth year. This is clearly dramatically different from the current classification, which is the birth year of a player. One of the main reasons given is that it better aligns players with their school-grade peers, such as middle and high school soccer.

We as a club have NOT yet made a decision on how to proceed. Obviously this is something that clearly presents the potential for change amongst our teams/club, which is something that we do not take lightly.

As a club we have begun discussions amongst our leadership on what path would be best for all our players. Let me reiterate, we have not come to a decision on how, as a club, we will navigate this challenge, but rest assured it will be done so with a lot of thought and consideration, with both long and short term outcomes taken into consideration.

We will make an official announcement of what our ultimate decision and course of action will be at the beginning of 2026. I have also attached the age matrix to help everyone have a visual aid of what the new age groups will be under US Soccer’s mandate.
