FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  • Why would I choose Titans / Sting SA over other soccer clubs in the city?
We take pride in the fact that our approach is different to the rest. We strive to produce technically proficient players who gain a love of the game. They achieve this by gaining the right experience at the right time in their physical and mental development, such that they can fully explore their potential and expose their talents. A players development is not judged upon their team's win-loss record. We judge all of our players progress based on a measurement of improvement from season to season. Players gain the most out of their experience because our coaches and players incentives are appropriately aligned. We hold our coaches accountable for each individual's development. As a result, the players can thoroughly enjoy their training and improvement from the age of 4 through their teenage years. As an organization, Titans / Sting SA are industry leaders for highest quality customer service and customer experience. We set the standard through our club leaders. We are the only soccer club to employ a full-time staff of directors and administrators, who are truly dedicated to player development and growth. We are the largest youth soccer organization to serve the immediate and surrounding zip codes. Our club provides the opportunity for international trips annually, allowing our players to experience other cultures and compete in international tournaments. We have an outstanding track record of player commitments to colleges in all divisions. Our Senior Program Director is your dedicated point of contact for assisting Senior players in their college recruitment goals.
  • How do I register my child with the club?
Registration depends on the age of your child. Players aged U4-U10 have open registration processes, wheres players aged U11-U19 must tryout for a competitive team. Open registration allows young players to join without tryout, allowing them to experience competitive soccer training and learn with San Antonio United despite their variable experience, understanding and ability. Players aged U4-U7 may register for Rising Stars here. Players aged U7-U10 may register for the latest season of Junior Academy here. Players aged U11-U14 must tryout, contact the Program Director here. Players aged U15-U19 must tryout, contact the Program Director here.
  • How much does it cost to play soccer?
Each program from U4 to U19 has their own specific fee structure, and once in competitive teams (U11-U19) fees may vary depending on the level of competition they play and how many times they train per week (twice or three times). Program fees can be found on each program page, including commitment fee, uniform, training and field fees (these are all located in the 'Program Details' of your chosen program, normally towards the end of the page).
  • What is the typical duration of the soccer season?
Each program will vary in duration. Rising Stars runs for 12 weeks every fall and spring. Junior Academy runs for 14 weeks every fall and spring. Junior and Senior teams run for 16 weeks in fall. Junior competitive teams run 16 weeks in spring. Senior competitive teams run for typically March to May in spring, due to high school soccer season.
  • How many training days are there per week?
Rising Stars train once each week. Junior Academy teams train twice each week. Junior and Senior competitive teams may train twice or three times per week, depending on their level of competition.
  • How long are the training sessions?
U5 to U8 players train for 60 minutes. U11 to U19 players typically train for 90 minutes every training session.
  • Where will my child train and play their games?
Most teams train at GVTC Communications Sportsplex, located at: 29064 Bulverde Rd, San Antonio, TX 78260. Some Senior Program teams train at STAR Soccer Complex, located at: 5103 David Edwards Dr, San Antonio, TX 78233. Games are played in San Antonio, and further afield such as Austin, Houston and Dallas. Travelling outside of San Antonio depends on the competitive level your child's team plays at, the higher levels may involve more travel outside of San Antonio. Players aged U5 to U10 will play games within San Antonio only.
  • What equipment will my child need?
You will need to purchase your own cleats, shin guards, water bottle and soccer ball (age appropriate size). Your child will require a SAU uniform, which you order after registering with the club. Instructions on the ordering process are sent to you via email after registration has been approved.
  • Who will my coach be?
Your team coach will be assigned by SAU Program Directors. Currently SAU employ 20+ coaching staff in a professional capacity. Our coaching staff are professionally qualified and educated coaches, involved in seasonal professional development under soccer governing bodies. SAU also deliver ongoing coach development programs to continue to educate and inform our staff.
  • Can you recommend any tournaments, soccer camps and private training?"
Your team coach will recommend the tournament events he wishes the team to enter, and team managers handle the registration for each team. You will be required to pay per tournament entered, typically 2-4 per calendar year. If you wish to pursue additional training opportunities we partner with World Wide Soccer, a professional coaching company who offer seasonal camps and individual training. Please visit www.worldwidesoccersa.com for more information.
