2012 BOYS TAKE THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN HOUSTON

SA United's 2012 Boys take 1st place at the Houston Dynamo-Dash Youth Tournament this weekend.

Our 2012 boys top team headed to Houston to participate in the Houston Dynamo-Dash Youth Tournament this weekend.

In not so favorable conditions the boys played their game from start to finish. A stylish, possession based philosophy kept our opposition from being in the game and once we got the first goal, we went all out attack, only conceding 2 goals in the entire tournament whilst scoring 27.

On Saturday the boys played against Houston Dynamo-Dash Black, winning convincingly 10-1. They then followed up that great result to beat Lonestar Silver, 2-0. The evening was full of laughs, food and tactical discussions at the team hotel with all boys having a fantastic time at the team dinner and then some fun and games. Sunday was no different, the boys playing their 3rd game of the weekend and beating Houston Dynamo-Dash Orange 8-1, making the finals convincingly with another outstanding attacking performance. The boys then met Lonestar Red in the championship game, it was a hard fought game, played in terribly wet conditions, but the boys persisted in their attacking intentions and style of play, winning the game 7-0, a wonderful performance by all.

The boys fought extremely hard this past weekend in Houston, especially given the conditions and weather. I could not be more proud of them. A huge thanks to the players and parents for their continued commitment. Three tournaments in a row and three championships to show for it! Train Play Be United! Head Coach, Ryan Van De Riet

Alvaro Lozano led the goalscoring with 9 goals over the 4 games, a great achievement by the lad. Also the defense needs to be mentioned, culminating in an outstanding performance overall, providing a strong, solid defensive line for the team. All results: V's Houston Dynamo-Dash 12 boys Black | W 10-1 V's Lonestar Silver 12 boys | W 2-0 V's Dynamo-Dash 12 boys Orange | W 8-1 FINAL: V's Lonestar 12 boys Red | W 7-0
