2011/2010 GIRLS V'S ADIDAS® FALL KICK OFF TOURNAMENT
Talk about giving it everything you have in your first tournament since the season finished, our Junior girls teams did just that!
With Head Coach Brendan Johnson taking our 2011 and 2010 girls into their first competitive games since the season break in May, they didn't disappoint in the slightest.
Our 2011 girls started off like a house on fire, winning their first 2 games against local rival SA City and Capital City soccer club. The girls lined up for their early morning kick off against SA City Red West, playing aggressive, attacking soccer and dominating the game from start to finish, ultimately winning 3-1.
They then faced off against Capital City South in the scorching afternoon heat and bettered their morning achievement with an even more dominating performance winning the game 5-0.
Evening rest, fun and good nutrition was in order and the girls prepared themselves to go again the next day against fierce local rivals Classics Elite and their RL team.
The girls did not disappoint, demolishing their opponent 6-2 with a wonderful performance from every member of the team, talk about happy campers :)
It was a great first weekend of the new season, having the girls back under the SA United umbrella once more, we were able to really show what our great club is capable of, especially against some of the biggest clubs in the area. Head Coach, Brendan Johnson
Our 2010 girls had just as good a start to the tournament, demolishing RGV Texans and Lady Dragons soccer club. It was a wonderful display from the future of our girls Junior program with some unbelievable soccer being played.
Feeling the heat and a little tired, the girls succumbed to their first defeat the next morning, facing Fever United they gave it their all but fell just short, losing the game 4-0 respectively.
The girls then faced the same team again in the finals, both teams looking very tired but they gave it their absolute all finishing the game 1-1 in normal time. Down to penalties, we all know it's a tough time and anyone can take it and unfortunately this time, the girls couldn't quite get over the finishing line, just falling short and finishing as runners up, next time ladies, next time.
