OUR BEGINNING
3 OF 8 |
ORIGINALLY FORMED IN 2005, SAN ANTONIO UNITED SOCCER CLUB HAS CONTINUED TO GROW AND EXPAND ITS REACH ACROSS SOUTH TEXAS
With a simple mission statement and focus, we have continued to maintain our club philosophy and ethos throughout our 17 years of existence. Even in tough economical circumstances we continue to provide all of our members, multiple pathways to continue their children's soccer education.
Formed in 2005 by the original club founder Jay Sparrow, our focus and goal was set from the very beginning. To provide quality coaching, a methodology, a philosophy and a high level of soccer in the San Antonio area. Being one of the very first clubs in San Antonio to start coaching soccer at a competitive level, we offered players a route into a more competitive mindset, either working their way up through our Academy or being of age to jump straight into our competitive teams.
ā
Over the coming years the club expanded dramatically, moving from the STAR Soccer Complex into our own purpose-built, dedicated Sportsplex. Winning numerous championships, tournaments and having multiple players sign professional contracts, has been fantastic for our members and a club as a whole.
We strive to push the evolution of the game, introducing new ideas and new methods, while always evolving the mindset and education of our athletes.
ā
The mission of our club is to provide a quality, safe and fun learning environment for all young players by employing only the best professional and dedicated coaches that are role models and display sound leadership skills. Our club focus is to be the best grass roots soccer club, offering programs for all players that want to learn, grow and develop a love for the game of soccer. Using our core values of leadership, integrity, growth, respect, character, confidence, hard work and excellence, we provide a creative environment that will instill a lifelong passion for the game.
ā
We embed values into our young soccer players with a quality and safe learning environment, where they can train, learn and have fun playing the game. We strive to provide dedicated professional and educated coaches who will instill a love of soccer in our players, while helping them understand and gain knowledge about all aspects of the game. We strive to provide a creative learning environment; where we will develop good people and soccer players, who using our core values, can translate these into life lessons to enhance a relationship with their community.

THE EVOLUTION OF OUR IDENTITY AND THE GOLD AND BLACK OF OUR UNIFORMS OVER THE PAST 17 YEARS
We are a soccer club based in San Antonio, South Texas, so why the gold and black club colors you might ask, well, it's a funny story really...
When Jay Sparrow originally founded our club in 2005, the choice of colors that were to represent us and our values was of extreme importance, we didn't want to just blend in with the blues, whites and reds of many other teams around us, we wanted something more striking, something more visibly exciting for our athletes and members to proudly wear, and for other clubs to instantly recognize. And that is where the gold and black came in.
ā
The actual colors came from a very famous British TV show called 'Only Fools and Horses'. It was felt that the gold and black complimented each other very well and that they would stand out from the normal group of colors in that area, something to make the players and our members proud to wear. The gold and black are a signal of strength and respect, something of which our club strives to be known for on and off the field.
ā
Our first ever jersey included our club name and a black logo, due to printing restrictions we couldn't mass produce the original color version so we had to make do with these amended colors. We also had a different original sponsor that later changed to our current sponsor, adidas.

WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF BEING THE ONLY SOCCER CLUB TO GIVE BACK TO A CHOSEN CHARITY IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
Our yearly charity tournament has been running consecutively for the past 9 years. With a mind blowing number raised for various local charities, we continue to strive to give back more and more each year. It is very important to us that our club is closely involved in our community and that we contribute to its growth and charities that need help.
The United For Hope Tournament was founded in February 2011. The goal of the tournament was to create a unique annual event where the soccer community would be offered the opportunity to come together to achieve a common goal 'To Give Back'.
Youth Soccer tournaments have the financial potential to give back to the community that has welcomed our business and helped us grow into the club we are today. Each year we select a local charity to receive a donation of proceeds from the event.
When the tournament was first played back in 2011, we set a lofty target of raising one million dollars for local charities over the lifetime of the tournament. Each year we take a step towards this goal. Thank you for your support.

DETAILS OF CHARITIES WE HAVE GIVEN BACK TO
We are very honored to have contributed to these selected charities.
2021, Nico's Dream - We are again supporting Nico's Dream this coming year. We wanted to give more to a great cause and didn't think twice about supporting this charity again.

2019, Roy Mass Youth Alternatives - A charity that has been committed to caring for children in family crisis since 1976. Unfortunately this tournament was rained out, but we still had members who wanted to give back.
