January 23, 2012. West Ham United International Academy today announced its proud partnership with SA United Soccer Club of San Antonio, Texas. This is the first partnership of its kind in Texas.

January 26, 2012. SA United Soccer Club takes another step towards becoming the complete club: a club where players can join as young as three and that offers parents the reassurance that regardless of the path their son or daughter takes in soccer, SA United can provide for them. Through the club’s strengthening relationship with IASA, local and national colleges, and now with West Ham United, every player that joins SA United can find a path that will help him or her achieve their goals.

This new and exciting relationship with West Ham United Football club out of London England only goes to solidify the passion and desire the club has to offer the very best opportunities for its players. Jay Sparrow, SA United’s Director of Coaching, announced, “Over the past 12 months, I have been in talks with several UK-based clubs as we look to form a professional partnership which will open doors for our elite players into the European game. After several discussions with the West Ham Directors, I feel very confident that we have finally found a club to partner with that shares in our mission and has a proven track record of producing some of the best players in the world. It was also important to me that the club we partner with has programs for both our boys and our girls. West Ham United met all of our requirements for the perfect international partner. SA United can now provide its players with a pathway into US college soccer, which can lead into the MLS; UK Academy Soccer, where players are showcased to professional teams; and now into the English Professional game through this exciting, prestigious relationship with West Ham United Football Club.

West Ham United International Academy Partnership Development Manager, Mike Kelleher said, "We are looking forward to working with Jay and the players, parents and coaches of SA United, this being our first partner in Texas opens new avenues for the International Academy."

SA United is creating a home for players where soccer is more than just training twice a week and games on the weekend. There is a unique sense of community within the club, of which players and families are very proud to be a part. SA United educates its players about the importance of sportsmanship, hard work, perseverance and community involvement. This is exhibited through the club’s annual United for Hope Tournament which donates 100% of the net proceeds to a local charity. Last year the club donated $25,000 to Haven for Hope, a homeless shelter in downtown San Antonio. This year on February 4th and 5th, 2012, the SA United hopes to raise even more for their chosen beneficiary, Morgan’s Wonderland.
